MEET SOPHIA,
a performing & teaching artist, based out of Atlanta, GA.
As an arts educator, Sophia seeks out opportunities to raise up the next generation of artists. She taught five semesters with the Truthbase Theatricals group (formerly CYT NYC-NJ), in both charter schools and after-school programs. She holds a minor in Educational Theatre from NYU Steinhardt. Sophia is a master's candidate in Educational Theatre at the University of Northern Colorado (expected graduation 2024).
As an administrator & operations specialist, Sophia most recently completed a three-year tenure in the Operations Department of Manhattan Prep, subsidiary of Kaplan, Inc. She interned with the Special Events department of NYC's Public Theatre during their 50th anniversary season.
Sophia is a wife and mom! She was one of the 2019-2020 recipients of the Parent Artist Advocacy League's Parent Artist Childcare Grant for her work in ONCE, the musical. When not on the job or with her family, Sophia may be found crafting (either knitting, crocheting, or sewing), running, or trying to entertain her child.
As a performer, Sophia possesses over a decade of professional and collegiate stage experience. She most recently appeared as Reza/Ex-Girlfriend in the 2020 production of ONCE the musical at the Horizon Theatre Company (GA premiere). Other favorite credits include Disney Cruise Line and Theatreworks USA. She has been a proud member of Actor's Equity Association. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the NYU Steinhardt School, and frequently gigs (on her violin) around the greater Atlanta area.
